Via Kotaku, top photo by Julio’s Photography So glad I made a mockup first, but even that was subject to change after heating up my worbla sandwich. Making a helmet was more taxing to make than I expected, especially with worbla and foam expanding and contracting as it’s heated and cools- not to mention needing to form that sucker and make sure bubbles didn’t appear! The oddball that I wasn’t expecting to have difficulty with was the curve of the metal around the helmet. I’ve been focusing on taking my time and learning new things this go around. She really studied figures and concept art to capture the look of Lucca’s helmet. She drafted it from duct tape (you can see pictures below) and then transferred the patterns to Worbla. It was her first time making a helmet, and Jelfish crafted it from scratch. The main part of the cosplay looks pretty straightforward to assemble, but the helmet is a different story.
The final product (below) is still not the visually appealing masterpiece you might expect, but at least you now know where to begin if you're suddenly consumed with desire to create banana models.Chrono Trigger isn’t a franchise I see costumes from on a regular basis, so it was refreshing to see Jelfish’s, also known as Kat, take on Lucca Ashtear. When he tried again, he used a smoother puree and orange juice (we think lemon or calamansi would work better here) to prevent discoloration. His first attempt ended up lumpy and brownish, and honestly, quite terrifying to look at. As you can imagine, pureed banana can't hold shape on its own, so Alcalde had to use potato starch as a thickener. Check your memory in small Chrono Trigger Quiz. 3D Model - Frog from Chrono Trigger Published: May 1, 2015.
So, for his latest project, he explored how to print out solid objects using banana mush and his self-designed extruder for 3D printers called PLYUMP. Awesome coud it be downloaded as an STL for 3d printing would love to make it. But can you imagine 3D printing anything using bananas? Sounds hard, if not, well, bananas - but 3Digital Cooks' founder Luis Rodriguez Alcalde isn't one to shy away from a good challenge. We've seen many people use food as 3D printer feed in the past, such as chocolates, candies and even ice cream.
